Germany not settling for Bronze - June 2010
 
XLR8’s partner in Germany is Innovative Training Systems (www.its-sport.de). They are a young company with some brilliant ideas and the motivation to go with it. I am sure we are going to see these guys grow quickly and by no means were they or the participants settled with stopping after the Bronze courses. Bring on silver… and the World Cup they say.

Dubai finds Silver - May 2010
 
May 2010 brought the rain to New Zealand and brought XLR8 Silver to Dubai in a balmy 35+ degrees. Both Matthew Bell and myself, travelled to Dubai for the week long series of courses and training, where they were joined by local XLR8 Trainer James Houghton. Together they teamed up to run both the XLR8 Bronze and Silver programs.

SOUTHLAND'S next batch of coaches is being prepared for the future.
 
The Southland secondary schools coach development programme is a 12-month initiative that includes five modules. Participants have talked coaching with Rugby Southland staff, as well as sat down with the likes of Robyn Broughton, Richard Dickel, Kenny Cresswell and Sid Cumming.

XLR8® Gets Squashed
 
The 2010 National Squash Coaching Conference took place over the weekend of March 13-14 at Squash Gym Palmerston North with a record 36 coaches attending from across New Zealand. They took part in a series of workshops forums and presentations delivered by National Coach Anthony Rickets and National Coaching Director Dave Clarke.

XLR8® Canterbury Netball Summer Camp 2010

Canterbury Netball has once again held a very successful Summer Camp for players aged 13 – 15 years in Christchurch. This year the camp ran from the 15th-18th January and accommodated 120 players and 19 coaches from across the country at Canterbury University’s College of Education campus.

XLR8® Games Day Christchurch 2008

Christchurch turned on a cracking day for the first of we hope is the first of many XLR8® Games Days in the Canterbury region. The initiative was originally launched in Wellington in 2007 and has been quickly taken up by the red and blacks with the support of the Canterbury Rugby Union acting as hosts for the day.

XLR8® Games Day Wellington 2008

Six composite teams contested the 2nd annual XLR8® Games Day in Wellington. The wind and rain stayed away but the athletes did not. With representatives from the Firebirds Cricket, Hurricanes Rugby, Pulse Netball, Team Wellington Football, the New Zealand Paralympics Team and the Black Ferns.

XLR8® Sports Day 2007/08

XLR8® continues to foster the development of grassroots sport through to the games elite. In preparation for the 2007/08 sports season, the Wellington sports franchises joined together for the inaugural XLR8® sports day. In attendance were representatives from the Hurricanes Super 14 Rugby Union, Wellington Firebirds Men’s Cricket, Wellington Blaze Women’s Cricket, Phoenix Football, Team Wellington Football, Wellington Saints Basketball, Pulse Netball, Wellington Netball, Black Ferns Women’s Rugby Union and the NZ Women’s Football Ferns.

Matthew Bell Joins the SPSS & XLR8® Team

For all keen cricketers Matthew Bell will need no introduction. For those of you wondering just who he is, Matthew has been playing cricket at an elite level since 1998, representing NZ internationally both at a test level and at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Matthew has captained and continues to represent his provincial team, the Wellington Firebirds. We welcome Matthew to the SPSS & XLR8® team where his role will see him assist with the research and development of cricket specific products & resource materials. His expert advice will be invaluable.
