Some of the more common questions we’re asked about VX Sport™
 
How is this different from other products?
 
VX Sport™ offers a degree of features, sensing and software analysis that typically is available only in products that cost three to five times as much. It is aimed at the serious athlete or those fitness conscious people who want to see how their training and performance measures up and can be monitored over time. The level of software features and sensing is beyond what watch based systems can deliver.
 
Are the units affected by weather?
 
Each VX Log™ unit is housed in a sealed watertight case and is impervious to weather condition. The hardware will work in the rain, but for water sports you should use a waterproof pouch, or a simple plastic “zip lock” bag to provide protection from immersion.
 
Can two or more people use the same VX Log™ and compare their results?
 
Yes. The VX View™ software allows easy comparison between two of your sessions, or compare any two athletes.
 
Will it work indoors?
 
Yes and No; the heart rate monitor, acceleration and field sensors will work indoors, but GPS reception indoors is unreliable. Therefore we recommend the product for use outside only.
 
Will it work everywhere in the world?
 
Yes, the only limitation on the product is the quality of satellite reception for GPS. GPS reception is generally available anywhere in the world, but is affected by atmospheric conditions. In built-up areas (such as cities with tall apartment and office buildings) GPS reception sometimes will cause errors and reduce accuracy of results.
 
Will it work with any heart rate strap?
 
We have tested the product with uncoded straps from Suunto™ and Polar™, and it may work with other types as well. The product is designed for uncoded straps only. If you already own a heart rate strap and watch check the manufacturer’s specification.
 
How long does the battery last?
 
The VX Log™ hardware has built-in battery that provides typically 5 hours or more continuous use before recharging. The battery charger is built into the VX Log™ and allows convenient recharging via the USB port of your PC.
 
How long can I record for?
 
In the standard mode (with all sensors operating) the VX Log™ will record for over 2 hours 15 minutes. However for longer events, such as cycling, marathons and triathlon, the VX Log™ can be changed to long-play mode by a push of one button, to deliver over 5 hours recording.
