Well February and March have seen XLR8-tors sharpening their skills across the United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East. Over the last 6 weeks, I have covered over 90,000km spreading the word and seeing the enthusiasm of sport scientists, trainers, players, coaches, physiotherapists, teachers and the list goes on. With every session I walked away learning more, with some great new drills and ideas coming from the participants. Big thanks!
For some it was the first time using the great training aids available and for others it was a chance to refine their skills and bounce ideas around a very exciting and dynamic learning environment. Thanks for all the constructive feedback, it is this feedback that will help us to grow and develop these courses to best suit your needs. One thing that is obvious is willingness for
XLR8® to produce more resources and to keep the education process evolving. We are on to it!
Of most consequence to me personally, was the huge diversity is sports, people, occupations and ages that sort out the program. From their last year in high school, masters students and to coaches who have been in the game for over 40 years. It really was inspiring to be in a room full of people (in one case for Glenn, a room of 90) who crave the knowledge to improve. To another degree, it was brilliant to see amongst the participants, the amount of improvement and enjoyment that was had during the day. Once shown, people really did take upon themselves to give it go. That’s all we can ask. Now it’s again over to you to ask that of your athletes.
It would seem that we have opened a ‘can of worms’. But for those who say why bite off more than you can chew… I say chew ‘faster’! The FASTER concept was certainly an acronym that was well received:
F
– First Step Quickness A
– Agility and acceleration S – Stopping and starting T – Technique Efficiency E – Explosive Power R – Reaction Skills
Really this is the crux of our message. For everyone out there – speed is not a birth right! By targeting these principles and becoming more efficient, we all can become faster!
Thank you for all the fantastic support and the kind hospitality extended by all the franchises and to those in Pretoria, I don’t apologise for giving you the heads up that the Hurricanes would come out on top of the Bulls. Hopefully in times ahead we will also be able to share the
XLR8® principles into the Bulls camp. The XLR8® International website is getting a revamp and it will include many pictures and comments from the latest tour and upcoming course information. Be great to hear your thoughts! Till then, all the best and remember it’s not what you know already but what you wish to know.
